This week, the fourth of my children visited Poland. Though the immediate threats to Jewish life in Poland today are not what they were 75 years ago, I can’t escape the need to protect her from Poland, our history, and its horrors. I don’t fear for her physical safety, but I do fear her loss of innocence as she will be exposed to the horrors to which our people, and specifically dozens of our relatives, were subject and murdered. I’ve been to Poland and I’ve witnessed concentration camps, death camps, the gas chambers, and the crematoria. I’ve been to cities and…

The IDF raided a Hamas-affiliated television station in the West Bank early Monday, arresting employees and confiscating broadcasting equipment. In total, 20 people were arrested in overnight operations. The army said it arrested four Palestinians suspected of incitement for their work at Al-Quds TV, which was defined earlier this month as a terror organization. The four arrested were named by Palestinian news site Wafa as station head Ala Rimawi and three freelance journalists, Sami Ulwan, Husni Injass and Qutaibah Hamdan. Wafa also said the army seized their cars and their personal computers. The Israeli military in recent years has shuttered a number of…
For the first time since the Syrian civil war erupted over seven years ago, two rockets hit the Sea of Galilee on Wednesday. Air defense sirens blared across the Golan Heights in the afternoon hours and after an inquiry, the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said the military had identified one rocket launch toward Israel – apparently errant fire from the fighting in southwest Syria between the Assad regime and rebel groups. Eyewitnesses in Israel later reported seeing two impact explosions in the Sea of Galilee, near the Gofra beach, where numerous beachgoers, among them families with children, were vacationing. Shimon Cohen,…
The IDF struck a Gaza terror cell Monday afternoon for the second time in 24 hours as Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman warned Hamas that Israel was not afraid to go to war. Last night Israel’s air force also struck a Gaza terror cell which had launched flaming kites and balloons into southern Israel. On Saturday, as part of an Egypt-brokered understanding, Hamas agreed to halt its violent attacks against Israel, which has included rockets, mortars, flaming kites and balloons. There have also been repeated infiltration attempts and violent riots at the Gaza-Israel border. On Friday, a Palestinian sniper killed an…
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the southern Israeli city of Sderot Monday morning, following a weekend of rocket fire from the Gaza Strip. Netanyahu met with the heads of the local councils in the Gaza border region, as well as a kindergarten in the city. A house in Sderot suffered a direct hit from a rocket, wounding four. An additional rocket hit the courtyard of a synagogue. Communities throughout the region abutting the Hamas-ruled coastal enclave have suffered fires caused by incendiary balloons and kites launched from Gaza. “Just as we are now finishing putting an end to the tunnels,…
Israeli forces attacked Syrian military positions near the countries’ shared border early Thursday, the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit confirmed Thursday. Syrian state media also confirmed the incident, saying the country’s air defenses “thwarted much of the attack.” The Israeli military posted a video featuring footage of IAF missiles hitting what appeared to be a hut, a two-story structure and a five-story structure amid hilly terrain. Video: IDF Spokesperson’s Unit The Syrian Arab News Agency quoted a Syrian military source as saying that ”The attack near Hader at the frontier of the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights caused only material damages.” Some Arab media…
The IDF deployed several Iron Dome batteries in southern Israel Thursday following a situational assessment, the military told The Jerusalem Post. “The IDF is prepared for several scenarios and ready to defend the citizens of the State of Israel and its sovereignty,” the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said. On Thursday, an IDF drone fired “a missile at a motorcycle” east of Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip, official Palestinian news agency Wafa reported, adding that while there were no injuries the motorcycle was destroyed. Syrian civilians being mercilessly bombed by their own regime and turned away by neighboring Arab countries are thanking Israel for showing kindness even to its enemies. The video above shows Israeli soldiers who are part of “Operation Good Neighbor” delivering tons of food, clothing and medical supplies to the Syrian refugees amassing on their nation’s side of the Golan Heights. The refugees began streaming to the border last week when the Syrian regime and its Russian allies began indiscriminate aerial assaults on their homes, which are situated in some of the last rebel-held territory. Israeli officials said they can’t possibly…
The heavy projectile attack on Israeli towns Tuesday morning is a sign that Hamas has “lost control” over the Gaza Strip, IDF Spokesperson Brig. Gen. Ronen Manelis said. In a series of interviews with Israeli media outlets, Manelis stressed that the IDF will not allow for such attacks to go unanswered. “Whoever carries out acts of terror should know they will face consequences,” he said. Manelis added that the IDF carried out “the most extensive attack in Gaza since Operation Protective Edge” – the 2014 military conflict between Israel and Hamas – and said the attack “will continue to grow as much as…
U.N. Secretary General Antonio Guterres has urged Israel and the Gaza Strip’s Hamas rulers to recommit to the cease-fire that ended Operation Protective Edge in 2014, saying the recent escalation of violence in Gaza is “a warning to all how close to the brink of war the situation is.” Israel and Hamas fought a 50-day war in Gaza in the summer of 2014, after three Israeli teens were kidnapped and murdered by Hamas operatives and months of sporadic rocket fire from Gaza into Israel. In a report submitted to the U.N. Security Council, obtained by The Associated Press Monday, Guterres…
