Israeli ambassador entreats UN to stop funding Palestinian terrorist groups

Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon said Wednesday that this week’s decision by the Palestinian Authority has made it clear that its leader, Mahmoud Abbas, has no intention of investing his efforts in peace with Israel.

Danon was referring to the decision by the Palestinian Authority to directly fund payments to terrorists and their families from their official budget, revealed Wednesday approximately the same time the U.S. passed the Taylor Force Act, which cuts off nearly all U.S. aid to the Ramallah government as long as it continues its ‘pay to slay’ policies encouraging bloodshed and murder.

“Mahmoud Abbas has once again revealed his true intentions as he directly funds hundreds of millions of dollars to terrorists with blood on their hands,” Danon said.

“Once again, the Palestinians have responded to American initiatives aimed at reconciliation with support for terror and violence.

“We call on the international community, and the United Nations, to join the U.S. in their pledge to put an end to the funding of Palestinian terror.”

Meanwhile, Riyad Mansour, the representative of the Palestinian Authority to the United Nations, made the following statement this week in response to the passage of the U.S. Taylor Force Act:

“We look at that act as being a hostile act to withdraw the economic assistance to the Palestinian people … Not allowing a responsible government such as the Palestine government in dealing with their political prisoners and their families and those who lose their lives in the struggle for the independence of our state. All these methods are arm-twisting, blackmailing, and will not break the will of the Palestinian people.”
